Tips for Longer Hair

I've got long hair that grows very fast. I trimmed my hair a few weeks ago and within a week I was sure it had all grown back. I'm often asked how I get my hair to grow fast. Though some of it is likely genetic, I'll give you some of my long hair secrets.

1. When you condition your hair, comb through it! I keep a comb in my shower and after I condition my hair I let it sit for a few minutes and then I comb through it before I rinse my hair. This help me avoid tangles and fight split ends.

2. Eat healthy. Eggs, vegetables, salmon, chicken, and nuts are just a few of the foods that are great for your hair. I eat eggs almost every day and I drink lots of juiced vegetables.

3. Avoid using your blow-dryer, straightener, and curling iron unless absolutely necessary. Heat can be very damaging to your hair. I haven't blow-dried my hair in over a year and I rarely use I curling iron. I stick to foam curlers and air drying my hair.

4. OATMEAL! I love oatmeal. It's delicious and it's good for your hair. Not only can you eat it, but you can also apply it to your hair. Oatmeal is actually in many shampoos.

Paper Cranes

Paper cranes seem to be really popular lately. I've seen them used as wedding decor, invitations to events, Christmas tree ornaments, and so on! They are easy to make and so very pretty. I use them to decorate my room. I originally learned how to make paper cranes from my Geography teacher about a year ago. By summer, I had forgotten how to make them so I found a video online. If you would like to learn, here's the link: Origami Crane Instructions

National Peanut Butter Day

Happy National Peanut Butter Day! Peanut butter is easily one of my favorite foods. I've been accused more than once of being a peanut butter addict. I often eat it straight out of the jar by the spoonfuls! When I found out that today was National Peanut Butter Day, I quickly changed my schedule in order to make some delicious peanut butter treats.

For lunch I made Peanut Butter Pad Thai. This amazing noodle dish is the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. My mom and I have perfected this recipe after a few tries and it has been one of my favorite dishes since! If you are interested in the recipe, I plan on including it in a blog post soon. So check back in a week or so.

This afternoon, I decided to make peanut butter cookies! These peanut butter cookies are gluten free and are great if you need a semi-healthy sweet treat.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup of peanut butter
1/2 cup brown sugar (or more, depending on your sweet tooth!)
1/4 cup honey
1 egg
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/4 cup of chocolate chips (or more if you like)

Set the oven to 350 degrees and stir all these ingredients together in a bowl. Bake the cookies for 9 to 10 minutes. Let the cookies cool for a few minutes and then enjoy!

Tonight I plan on topping off National Peanut Butter Day with a peanut butter mocha. I posted about this delicious drink a few days ago. Here's the link: http://lexalex-lexa.blogspot.com/2012/01/peanut-butter-caramel-mocha.html
